We all know my probably irrational love for Windows 10 Enterprise 2015 LTSB. Having access to a version of Windows 10 has been a godsend for IT admins that can’t always keep up with Microsoft’s release cycle. The downside is that, because it’s not updated as often, you might miss out on all the neato new features like Windows Information Protection, Shared PC Mode, and Windows Defender Improvements. Well, today, all of that changes. Microsoft has released the first major update to LTSB.
Its name is, you guessed it, Windows 10 Enterprise 2016 LTSB. It’s got all of the great Windows 10 Build 1607 features, and the best news is you can perform an in-place upgrade from 2015 LTSB, even with SCCM, while keeping all your files and installed apps! Keep an eye out for a how-to on that soon, and go out and try the new LTSB today!
At the time of writing, it’s available on MSDN here (subscription required) – and it should hit the TechNet Evaluation Center soon! Leave a comment if you've already deployed LTSB, or if you're going to move to 1607.
Happy deploying!
